Pulse surveys are a quick and effective way to gather feedback and support ongoing communication with your employees.
These surveys typically consist of just a few questions, allowing you to quickly gauge the overall sentiment and needs of your workforce. You have the flexibility to determine the frequency of these surveys based on what works best for your organization.
If you plan to run frequent pulse surveys (i.e. every few weeks), we recommend no more than 5 questions in your survey for ease. Once your questions are created, continue onto settings.
Setting up a Pulse Survey
For full instructions on survey settings, review this article.
Set up
While selecting your survey settings, designate pulse and your survey frequency type in the set up section. Enter your start and end dates. These dates should cover the total length of time needed for all pulses to run.

Determine how often you want to collect feedback for these survey questions (once a month, once a quarter, etc.). Under pulse to begin every, type a number and choose either weeks or months in the drop down provided. For example, if you want to collect feedback every month, you will enter 1 month.
Under start next pulse on, choose the day of the week (for weekly) or the day of the month (for monthly) you want the pulse round to start. This is when participants can begin giving feedback and will receive their survey invitations, if enabled.
Email/Text/Kiosk
Select the method for survey distribution (if not anonymous) by toggling on email, SMS, and/or kiosk.
Weekly Pulse Notifications
If your pulse survey is set to run weekly and you have enabled email or SMS, invitations will be sent on the day of the week you selected under send next pulse on. Anyone that has not yet completed their survey will receive a reminder two days later.
Examples:
-
If your pulse is set to run on Mondays, participants will receive a new invitation every Monday and a reminder on every Wednesday.
-
If your pulse is set to run every two weeks (or more), reminders will be sent once per week on the day of the week selected, up to three times after the initial invitation.

Pulse surveys are designed to be sent on a scheduled basis. You cannot send your first pulse survey invitations in the same day that it was created and/or participants assigned.
Monthly Pulse Notifications
If your pulse is set to run monthly, you need to select a day of the week for your reminders to send. When enabling email and SMS, choose the desired day of the week for notifications under select a day. Survey invitations will be sent on the day of the month you selected under send next pulse on. Anyone that has not yet completed their survey will receive a reminder on the day of the week selected in the email/text/kiosk section.
Example:
-
If your pulse is set to run on the 5th of each month and you choose Monday for notifications to be sent, participants will receive an invitation on the 5th of the month and reminders will be sent on the following three Mondays.
