Engagement Index

Engagement is the extent to which a person is emotionally attached to their work and their organization; it’s beyond the contractual agreement a person has with their company and more than just doing a job for a paycheck.

Employee engagement is a direct indicator of quality of work and productivity. Employees that are engaged are more likely to be productive and stay with the organization for the long term, which means less turnover. The People Element engagement index is a scale measuring the level of commitment, effort, connection, and advocacy a person feels for their organization.

Engagement Index Questions

The following six questions make up our engagement index and are included in our engagement survey template.

To use the engagement index reporting components within the People Element Platform, these six questions must be included in your survey. Engagement index questions cannot be modified.

  • I am motivated to go beyond what is normally expected of me to help the organization be successful
  • I don’t consider looking for a new job elsewhere
  • I feel proud to work for this organization
  • I plan to be here at least 1 year from now
  • I would recommend this organization as a good place to work
  • My work gives me a sense of personal accomplishment
When we combine these questions into an overall engagement score, we get a reliable index measure to help us better understand the level in which employees are engaged.

The engagement index calculation and reports are only available for surveys using the engagement template and the 6 engagement index 1-5 Likert scale items shown above.
