Updating Participant Demographics for Future Responses

Participant demographics should be updated within the People Element Platform to allow for correct data populating within your reports.

You can modify participant demographics by going to manage participants in the PEOPLE tab. Updates can be made in bulk via an import or individually at the participant level.

Demographic updates made here will be applied to future survey responses collected and does not change demographic items for responses already collected. If you need to change demographics for previously collected responses, review this article for instructions.

Automated List Imports

You can spend less time managing your participant table and more time acting on your data when you configure your HRIS to automatically send employee data to People Element on a set cadence. This allows for the employees and their demographics to always be updated within the platform. To get started with your census file automation, reach out to your People Element contact to start the set-up process. Review this article for more details.

One-time List Imports

To import a participant file, go to the PEOPLE tab, then manage participants. Click import and select the correct file for upload. When importing participant files, remember that all column headers in your excel file (.xlsx) or comma-separated values file (.csv) must match exactly to the demographic column headers in the platform. Should they not match, the information in that column will not be imported into the platform. Employee ID is a required column. If this column is missing, the entire file will not import. If you need to modify the column headers in the platform you can do so in the demographics page of the PEOPLE tab.

Make Individual Changes

Step One: To modify a participant’s demographics individually, click the participant’s employee ID in the manage participants table.
Step Two: Make any necessary edits to the participant’s demographics and click save to apply your changes.
