SFTP Manual Census File Upload

While you are waiting for your HRIS automation to be up and running, manually import your employee census files to SFTP to eliminate any delays in launching your surveys.

Easily connect to our SFTP server using Filezilla and begin transferring census files. Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) provides a high level of security for sending files to People Element.

Get Started

To get started with your SFTP census file manual upload, reach out to your People Element contact to request credentials. Credentials will be created and emailed to you within 2 business days from initial request.

Next Steps

Download FileZilla Client to your computer and open once installed.
After opening FileZilla Client, enter the credentials provided by People Element into the Quickconnect bar. Host name will be the server or IP address provided to you in the SFTP credential email.
Once a successful connection is made to the SFTP server, you will see your organizations SFTP remote directory on the right side of the main window and your local server/directory on the left side. Our platform will pick up files that are transferred to your organization’s remote directory (right side).
To transfer files, you will need to first need to open your organizations folder in the remote directory (right side of window). After, you will search for the stored census file in your local directory (left side of window). Once your census file is located in the local directory, you can click the left button on the mouse to drag and drop the file into the remote directory (right side of window) or you can right click on the file to select upload.
Our platform will automatically look for your files daily to upload into the system. Files dropped or modified since the last pickup will be imported into the People Element Platform. Review this article for full details on census file requirements to ensure imports are successful.

Security

The data collection SFTP server is an Azure VM that receives unencrypted data from the remote systems using either SFTP with minimum AES128 bit keys, or FTPS protected by SSL/TLS connections with RSA2048 keys. Automated IP blocking prevents abuse of connection. Data at rest is encrypted using SSE with PMK Encryption, Server-side encryption (SSE) to protect your data and to help you meet your organizational security and compliance commitments. Data in Azure managed disks is encrypted transparently using 256-bit AES encryption.
All census files are removed from your SFTP folder after 30 days.
