You have the ability to edit the scales of single select questions at the survey level. If you need to adjust the scale for all 5-point Likert scale single select questions in your survey, you can easily create a custom scale.
This applies only to the 5-point Likert scale. This feature is commonly used to remove the No Answer (0) response option or adjust wording on Somewhat Agree/Disagree (3) for the entire survey.
The NA/No Answer response option is not included in reporting calculations but is instead counted as a non-answer. If a question may not apply to some participants, we suggesting leaving the NA option in your scale so employees are not forced to choose an answer.
- In the survey builder, select the more options icon (three vertical dots) located towards the top right of your screen. Select "Customize Answer Set" from the dropdown menu.
- Click the orange plus sign to add a new answer set. Name the answer set and click "Add".
- Enter your answer choices to the blank spaces provided, then click save.
- To apply the new answer set to all 5-point Likert scale single select questions, hit "Apply to all". You will receive a message altering you the changes have been made.
- Close out of the customize answer set page to be taken back to your survey builder. Click "Save and continue" to save the changes made and move on to editing your survey settings.
Don't reverse the scale. Reporting is designed to report out mean and favorability scores for single-select items. Favorability is always calculated using the top scores (4's and 5's for a 5-point scale), never the lower end of the scale.
If you have multiple languages, you will need to translate your custom scales into each language the survey is created in.
